All Elite Wrestling announced several new additions to their roster during the Double or Nothing rally earlier this week, but perhaps the biggest and most surprising signing that the new promotion landed was Chris Jericho. Jericho has become very friendly with the members of The Elite over the past year, and as a result, he has decided to sign on to help “change the universe” just as AEW has promised to do in 2019. What makes the move so surprising is that Jericho was once considered to be a loyal member of the WWE family. Signing with what will supposedly be a huge rival promotion could definitely damage the relationship between Jericho and WWE, but according to the man himself, he told Vince McMahon ahead of time that he would be joining the promotion.
Chris Jericho appeared on the Busted Open Radio program on Sirius XM to discuss his decision to sign with All Elite Wrestling and some of his own goals for the promotion. During the interview, he talked about how he helped increase business for New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2018 through name recognition and why he believes that he will do the same for AEW. As far as his relationship with WWE goes, Jericho claims that he informed Vince McMahon about his choice to sign with AEW well before Tuesday’s rally. For what it’s worth, Jericho says that the conversation that they had was “amicable,” so hopefully there isn’t too much tension there. Expect to see Jericho at Double or Nothing in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 25th.
“A lot of that stuff is private but I did have a very amicable
conversation with him. He knew what I was doing, it wasn’t a surprise. I
didn’t just show up in Jacksonville and that was it. The bottom line is
the Khan family isn’t messing around. They want to make a go at this
and you know they have a lot of money and they have a lot of capital.” Jericho said during the interview.
Yesterday, it was reported by PWInsider that “Superstar” Billy Graham had checked out of the hospital and had returned to his home in Arizona. The former wrestler was said to be dealing with pneumonia and was hospitalized earlier this week. Since that time, the WWE Hall of Famer has posted his very own update on his official Facebook page stating that he did indeed leave the hospital. Graham also confirmed the reports concerning his battle with pneumonia but said that his doctors have him taking “strong antibiotics” in order to combat the illness. The former WWWF Champion has had a history with health issues in recent years. Graham thanked all of his fans for their kind words and prayers in his message as well.
