According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the rumor that circulated recently that Charlotte Flair was promised a spot in the WrestleMania main event is not true. The original plan was not even for Ronda Rousey to be in the main event. The original plan had Roman Reigns headlining, likely against Dean Ambrose.
Ronda Rousey was set to take on heel Natalya as the women’s main event on the Raw side. But two things changed those plans. Both Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair got hurt and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart passed away. Vince McMahon felt after Neidhart died that it was the wrong time to have Natalya be a heel. Ronda Rousey versus Charlotte Flair has long been expected to be the WrestleMania match and even a main event before things changed.
